There is an herbe that grows in the jungle deep. It is the herbe of the Goddess. The 'Love-Goddess Herbe'. It's a sacred herbe, the 'Saint Maria Jane' herbe, or MaryJane for short.
Venecia is a witch, and has the habit of going into trances. And flowers have real spirits, she knows. She talks to them, the forest spirits, and flower spirits, in the jungle and her garden. She is a gardener, all green thumbs. Only a witch can make them grow like this. They are her sisters, she feels.
She is an herbalist, and goes walking barefoot into the forest, calling the flower spirits by their name, until they call back, and show her where they are. This how she finds the ‘Goddess Herbe’, by praying for it, the particular one that is meant for her, to use now with her man, in this the celebration of love.
Her favorite trance state was to feel the spirit, the real spirit, of a flower, enter her, and then, for a time, she becomes the flower.
About Hypnotism
Venecia is psychic, and from years of practice and meditation and witchcraft, she was adept at going into deep trances, entering the sprit world. Taking the Goddess-Herbe was a part of her practice. But she was always open to new ways to improve her practice and deepen her states.
Tomek was a hypnotist. He'd trained for years in the arts of hypnotism. And so Venecia asked him one day, "Could you hypnotize me? I'd like to see what it's like."
"And what would you like me to hypnotize you as? What would you like me to have you do in that state?", he asked with a somewhat smirking, suggestive smile.
"Well, my usual meditation practice is to get in touch with the flower spirits of the forest. To talk to and commune with them. To feel myself as another flower spirit. Because deep down, I think I am. I don't know who my father is; I think I emerged from the sea anemones of the lagoon. I'd like to get in touch with my inner flower essence, deep inside, and let it flower. Let the real inner me emerge from that. I do that anyway in my trance sessions. But maybe your hypnosis could deepen that state? Deepen the connection?"
"Well, it's worth a try" said he. "Let us partake of the sacred Goddess Herbe, and then I will hypnotize you as you meditate. Because this herbe will make you more susceptible to the spirits, — and the voice of the hypnotist."

With some more talk and cajoling, he convinced her. She already frequently meditated, going into deep spirit trances, where she let the beings of spirits enter her body.... So, she would be a good vehicle of hypnotism, because it is much the same thing.
In the 1800s, when hypnotists were common, — women's fainting spells were also common. Hypnotists could simply look at a woman, and snap their fingers, and and she'd faint and fall to the ground, wilting in a deep pink blush. Even the fanciest society women, in their long ballroom dresses, would faint before the dark-eyed hypnotist. Then another snap of his fingers, and this lady would rise back up, — now to do his bidding. Men had it good back then. If they were hypnotists.
The women fell for them. They'd faint for them, like modern girls do for rock stars.
Harvesting
So they went off into the forest to search the sacraments.
Venecia tuned in with her mind, asking for directions from the flower spirits. And they led her to where they were. Soon she could smell the thick, musk of its flowers a ways off. The flower tops were all scintillating, dense and crystal like. Deep in the forest, in the wet, amongst the tangled vines, they grew, reaching up to patches of sunlight.
Tomek and Venecia harvested them. Harvested a few other herbes as well, such as the lovely 'Damiana' herbe, on the way back. The herbe for which her 'grandmother' Damiana was named for. It, too, is an herb of love, an aphrodisiac, which maidens take for nights of love. It stirs the inner, lower chakras of the body, whereas the Goddess herbe (aka. 'Saint Maria Janis' herbe), stirs the whole soul and body.
When back home, Venecia baked some little cakes, with the herbes in the cakes, and in a pot of tea. Both the 'Saint Maria Jane' herbe and the Damiana-herbe were in the cakes and the tea.
MaryJane is the herb of the Goddess, herself, for her spirit is somehow in it. The Goddess herb. It is the herb that lovers have always used. An herbe that permits the spirit of the Goddess to enter into them, so that they may experience the sensibilities and all the shades of love.
